Application
Uracil is an organic base and one of the four major bases in RNA.
As a key pyrimidine component of ribonucleic acid, it is a constituent of various uridine nucleotides.
Uracil links with ribose to form uridine, and its triphosphate form (UTP) acts as a precursor for RNA biosynthesis and a coenzyme in sugar synthesis.
Uracil inhibits the degradation of tegafur, raises fluorouracil levels, and strengthens its anticancer activity.
It has similar clinical indications to fluorouracil, and is mainly used for digestive system cancer, breast cancer and thyroid cancer.
Combined with mitomycin, it exhibits favorable efficacy against advanced gastric cancer.
It is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and agricultural fertilizers.
