INTRODUCTION

3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt (3'-SL), as a new variety of food nutrient fortifier, is used in modified milk powder (limited to children's milk powder),

infant formula food, formula food for older infants and young children, and infant formula for special medical purposes.

3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt is a human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) naturally present in breast milk, and it functions as a food nutrient fortifier. Following a safety assessment, it has been confirmed that 3'-sialyllactose sodium salt can be safely used in the aforementioned food categories. Regulatory authorities including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Commission, and Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) have approved its use in infant formula and other relevant food categories.
