Q: Chemical Properties of Sephadex G Series
A: Sephadex G series are beaded dextran gels containing a large number of hydroxyl groups. They swell readily in water and electrolyte solutions. The hydrophilic matrix minimizes non-specific adsorption and ensures high recovery rates during the separation of biomolecules. Sephadex G-type dextran gels are available in various degrees of cross-linking, resulting in different swelling degrees and fractionation ranges. The swelling degree of dextran gels is basically unaffected by the presence of salts and detergents.
